Many people have doodled before. Pens, pencils, and other writing utensils are staples of our everyday life. However they can only do so much. You can not make a solid 3d shape. To solve this, now there are multiple 3d printing pens. One such pen is the 3Doodler.
The gadget bills itself as the “world’s first 3D printing pen.” It first exploded in popularity on Kickstarter, and the fundraiser started by its maker, WobbleWorks, smashed its $30,000 goal a few hours after it was launched in February 2013. The campaign raised more than $2.3 million and had more than 26,000 backers when all was said and done.
The 3Doodler has become such a smash that it is now available online and at a number of retailers, including Michaels, for $99.99.
And it is getting an upgrade.
WobbleWorks revealed in early 2015 that the 3Doodler 2.0, which will be slimmer, lighter and sleeker than the original, is in the works.
Another such pen is the Polyes Q1. Taking one step further towards 3D pen technology truly being open to all comes Polyes Q1. It’s a 3D pen that doesn’t involve any hot parts, melting plastics, and therefore no nasty smells either. Instead, it uses photo-polymer as ink, which solidifies under LED light provided by the device.
As well as that, it offers a tilt sensor inside to adjust things accordingly, with integrated control buttons enabling you to be in full control of what you’re drawing. There’s a child-safety switch in there too, which ensures that the LED light goes out automatically once the pen is above ground level. There’s no need to worry about your eyes being damaged here.
