‘Orange Pi’ – open source single-board computers (SBCs)  hardware and open source software

Orange Pi is a series of single-board computers (SBCs) produced by Shenzhen Xunlong Software, a Chinese company. These SBCs are similar to the more well-known Raspberry Pi but come in various models with different features and hardware specifications. They are typically used for DIY electronics projects, education, and other applications where a compact and affordable computing platform is needed.

Orange Pi is a leading global provider of open source hardware and open source software, dedicated to enabling geeks, creators and electronics enthusiasts to enjoy high-quality, low-cost technology products from China, and to create a better information-based human civilization through large-scale social collaboration.

Key features of Orange Pi boards often include:

CPU and GPU: The boards come with various CPU options, including ARM Cortex-A7, Cortex-A53, and Cortex-A64 processors, as well as integrated Mali GPUs for graphics processing.

RAM: Orange Pi boards come with different amounts of RAM, ranging from 512MB to 2GB or more.

Connectivity: They typically include USB ports, Ethernet, HDMI output, and various options for wireless connectivity, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

GPIO (General-Purpose Input/Output) pins: Like the Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi boards include GPIO pins that allow you to interface with external hardware and sensors.

Storage: Orange Pi boards usually have a microSD card slot for storage, but some models also support eMMC modules.

Operating System: You can run various operating systems on Orange Pi, including Android, various Linux distributions (such as Ubuntu, Debian, and Armbian), and more.

Form Factor: The physical layout and size of Orange Pi boards can vary depending on the specific model.

Price: Orange Pi boards are generally more affordable than Raspberry Pi models, making them an attractive option for cost-conscious projects.
