3D PRINTED SOLAR ENERGY TREES

3d-printed-solar-trees

Very decorative prototypes of what is called “energy harvesting trees”. The tiny leaves generate and store solar energy and can be used to power small appliances and mobile devices. They flourish indoors and outdoors and can also harvest kinectic energy from wind and temperature changes in the surrounding environment.

3-D Printed Prosthetics

Bespoke Innovation treats artificial limbs like works of art and the e-Nable project uses low-cost 3-D printers to create high-power hands. Now William Root, a recent graduate from the Pratt Institute in New York City, has developed a system to 3-D print super-lightweight prosthetic legs with stealth styling.

Batoidea Chair by Peter Donders

Belgian designer Peter Dander’s aptly calls his elegant, light, and airy chair “batoidea,” which means stingray. Without 3D print technology, an aluminium cast chair such as this would be prohibitively expensive to manufacture, however with additive manufacturing there is little to no waste.

3D printed House

Italian engineering company WASP, the project has aspirations to solve the global housing crisis by building houses using sustainable materials.

The 40 foot tall, 20 foot wide printer is able to build structures using products like clay or dirt in order to maximise its use in areas with limited infrastructure or resources.

The structure — consisting of a metal frame that suspends a nozzle — uses very little energy to gradually build up layers of clay, eventually forming a basic house structure. WASP, which stands for World’s Advance Saving Project, is testing out the working prototype

3D Printed Car

3D-printed car. It’s a humble (albeit very cool-looking) thing. Built—printed—in Detroit, in collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, the Strati is a small electric two-seater, the first of many models in Local’s plans. Two factories, scaled to employ 100 people each, are under construction now and scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
