Need to check your child’s temperature? Want to track it over time? Flo, a small Bluetooth enabled non-contact thermometer, gives users accurate readings, allows them to track health and family pictures over time, and share them on social media.
Flo is relatively easy to use. Point the thermometer within 1 cm of a child’s forehead, push a button, and then you’ll be able to determine whether your child has a fever. The thermometer by itself doesn’t show the exact temperature and relies instead on a color-coded system to tell users how to act. White indicates your child has a chill. Green indicates that he or she does not have a fever while red indicates that he or she does have a fever.
By synching Flo with its smartphone app, users can obtain exact measurements of their child’s temperature, although Flo works independently of a user’s phone and will save data from syncing.
Users also have the ability to take the temperature of other objects, such as milk or formula.
Flo has several key features:
1. It never touches the body.
Flo does not require constant cleaning. Flo can be used on multiple individuals without much risk for contamination.
2. Flo is quiet.
Flo is quiet so it won’t wake up a sleeping baby, but an audio feature can be enabled on the app and Flo will state the temperature when a reading is taken.
3. Timeline
Users have a timeline of various family members’ health. Users can also add pictures to your timeline. The pictures can be tagged with time, reading, and location to add context and meaning. It is also useful to determine ovulation cycles for couples trying to conceive.
4. Sharing
This feature enables users to share their timeline pictures with others.
Flo, should it receive enough backing, will cost $15.
