Aktiia measures your blood pressure, automatically, while you go about your daily life, uninterrupted.
Aktiia is a company that has developed wearable devices for continuous blood pressure monitoring. They aim to provide a solution that allows individuals to measure their blood pressure throughout the day, seamlessly integrating into their daily activities.
The technology behind Aktiia typically involves optical sensors that use photoplethysmography (PPG) to detect changes in blood volume beneath the skin, allowing for the estimation of blood pressure. This method is non-invasive and can provide continuous monitoring without the need for traditional inflatable cuffs.
Aktiia is a medical device and is approved for ongoing monitoring of adult patients at home. It is not intended as a diagnostic tool and does not collect the same data as an ambulatory blood pressure monitor.
The Aktiia app displays the average of all blood pressure readings taken within a two-hour time window. By combining multiple readings every two hours into a single blood pressure reading, Aktiia gives you a smoothed blood pressure curve that better reflects your true cardiovascular condition.
Aktiia Bracelet uses PPG technology (Photoplethysmography) to acquire optical data on your wrist. The PPG data are then transferred through the Aktiia App to a secured cloud server on which Aktiia’s algorithms estimate your blood pressure through advanced processing of the optical data. Aktiia Bracelet detects if the user is moving before initiating a PPG measurement and will provide blood pressure measurements only when the user is still. This product is licensed under patents owned by CSEM SA, Switzerland.
Wearing the bracelet 24hrs/day, will send the measurements to the Aktiia App that you installed on your Phone and will give you an overall understanding of your blood pressure at day and at night.
Aktiia Bracelet is not set to read at any specific time intervals; Aktiia bracelet will attempt a reading randomly, several times per hour. Aktiia bracelet will attempt a reading as soon as the user is still. The number of readings will depend on the user’s level of activity.
Each measurement is saved in the bracelet and will transmit to the app, when you sync the data. You can do this manually, by going to the home screen and swiping down, or it will transmit the data automatically, when your phone is near the bracelet.
You will be shown one average measurement of every 2 hours in the graph.
o ensure accurate readings, the Aktiia bracelet is designed to take measurements only during resting periods. Using an accelerometer to gauge movement, the Aktiia bracelet will automatically determine if the situation is appropriate for an accurate measurement to be taken.
Aktiia takes several measurements every hour, but your Aktiia App will show you only a single average value of all measurements taken in the specified period. (You can print a pdf report to see all measurements
Your blood pressure naturally changes during the day and the night depending on your physical activity, body position changes, and stress levels. However, the fact that your blood pressure rises after running to catch a bus does not mean that you are hypertensive in the mornings. By averaging several measurements every two hours into one BP value, Aktiia provides you with a smoother BP curve that better represents your actual cardiovascular state.
