Mind-controlled Car Tested At Nankai University In Tianjin China

A team member at Nankai University In Tianjin China tested a mind controlled car wearing an electroencephalo-graph acquisition equipment that orders a mind-controlled car to go forward. A Nankai University research team led by Duan Feng, associate professor of College of Computer and Control Engineering, developed a mind-controlled car which could be drove forward, reversed, braked, started, locked and unlocked all by human’s mind. When wears an electroencephalo-graph acquisition equipment with 16 acquisition points, the experimenter could order the car as his mind transferred to a computer processing system and an electrical control unit which controlled the car.

Concentration: Researchers from Nankai University have created a car that is controlled by brain signals

How does it work?

According to state-owned news agency Xinhua, drivers wear a headset called the electroenecephalo-graph that has 16 sensors reading signals from your brain. As your brain thinks directions for the vehicle, the sensors interpret those brain signals in a recognition system that analyzes them and translates them into instructions that can be recognized by the car.

So far, the car has been successfully able to interpret signals from the brain that allow it to move forward, in reverse, brake, start, lock, and unlock. Drivers can even open the car’s doors with their minds. The only thing the car cannot do is turn when the driver’s mind tells it to.
