Google Wifi with wifi points can expand wifi coverage for your entire home seamlessly

Google Wifi is a new type of home Wi-Fi system that replaces your router for seamless coverage throughout your home.

Traditional routers weren’t designed for all the different ways we use Wi-Fi today. Walls and distance make it difficult for a single router to send a strong signal to every room in your home, resulting in slow Wi-Fi and dead zones.

With Google Wifi, you can place multiple ‘Wifi points’ in different rooms for fast Wi-Fi in every corner of your home. We recommend putting them out in the open, about 1-2 rooms apart.

You can now order Google new home wifi system that allows you to place a wifi point anywhere in the home you may have internet issues. Google Wifi also has a feature called Network Assist that leverage Google smarts to manage your network so you do not have to worry about it.

Do I need a modem?

Google Wifi replaces your existing router. If you have a modem + router combo from your Internet service provider, your main Google Wifi point will connect to that device, and you will have to turn off it’s Wi-Fi functionality.

What’s mesh?

Google Wifi is built on a new mesh Wi-Fi technology. Within our mesh network, each Google Wifi point creates a high-powered connection, and they work together to determine the best path between points for your data. The result is fast Wi-Fi everywhere in your house, not just right next to the router. You can even roam throughout the house while on a video call or while streaming a movie without the signal dropping.

What other cools things does Google Wifi do?

On top of great coverage, we’ve built a feature called Network Assist. Network Assist actively manages and optimizes your Wi-Fi network behind the scenes so you don’t have to.

It keeps your signal strong, even as you roam throughout your house by intelligently transitioning you to the best Wifi point and the right Wi-Fi channel to avoid congestion.

How many Wifi points do I need?

Wi-Fi signals depend on many factors; here’s an estimate of how much Wi-Fi coverage you’ll get with a Google Wifi system:

Number of Wifi points Square feet of Wi-Fi coverage*
1 1,500 sq. ft.
2 1,500-3,000 sq. ft.
3 3,000-4,500 sq. ft.
If you have a larger home, you can add even more Wifi points and they will all work seamlessly together. You may also need additional Wifi points if your home is long and narrow or has thick walls.

*These coverage estimates are for homes with timber frames. Homes made of other materials may see different Wi-Fi coverage.

How many Wifi points can connect to one another?

You can use as many Google Wifi points as you need to cover your home. We recommend placing them about 2 rooms away from one another for the best signal.
