DroneTracker: Novel Multi-Sensor Drone Warning System

European startup, DeDrone, has been initiated to combat the possible dangers by using a DroneTracker system to identify unauthorized drones. These drones can then be monitored to ensure they are not being used maliciously. The DroneTracker guards against spying, smuggling, potential terrorist attacks and invasions of personal privacy. Based on multiple parameters such as noise, shape, and movement patterns, it is unlike any other drone warning system able to reliably detect all types of drones.

The size, speed and varying shape of drones make identification extremely difficult for a single monitoring method. Therefore, DroneTracker utilizes an array of sensors to detect drones in real time. DroneTracker is equipped with a unique system of interacting sensors. Based on multiple parameters such as noise, shape, and movement patterns, it is unlike any other drone warning system able to reliably detect all types of drones. The built-in camera saves images and videos in HD quality, providing crucial evidence of the threat intrusion.

The intelligent DroneTracker software categorizes every detected drone on the basis of its individual characteristics such as size, shape, movement, and sound. Dedrone stores this signature known as the Drone DNA in a cloud-based database that is constantly and actively enlarged. Clients can send videos of drones that the DroneTracker has detected without triggering an alert (so-called false-negative alerts). These videos are evaluated and the new signatures are added to the database.

The DroneTracker includes a weatherproof unit which holds several sensors, allowing for a 120 degree airspace arc, with a range of up to 100 meters. The sensors are borderline infra-red, acoustical sensors and a video camera which work together to monitor the skies in real time, sending the data back to a paired device. The portability and scale of the equipment means it will be incredibly useful for monitoring public events and eliminating any dangerous drones from entering the airspace. All DroneTrackers worldwide receive regular DNA updates, so users benefit from a protection network that is constantly growing.
