An innovative method of generating power, Pavegen, is a new renewable energy source.

Pavegen, a renewable method of power generation, is taking the world by storm. This new technology allows power to be generated simply by walking on the Pavegen’s tiles. It works in a rather unique way. It works by using electro-magnetic induction, or the production of an electric current by moving a loop of wire through a magnetic field or moving a magnet through a wire loop. By stepping on the tile, the weight of your foot causes generators to vertically displace, creating the energy for the system by pushing them into the field. Since the companies founding in 2009, it has had numerous achievements, including having successfully installed over 100 floors on every continent, according to their website. They’re in many locations, such as airports, and train stations, as well as creating a new model of Pavegen, known as the V3, which is triangular, and also produces over 200 times the power the model from 2009 created. The V3 has the following specifications, found on the website, followed immediately by a few videos of the product in action:

Dimensions: 500mm each edge

Power rating: 5 Watts continuous power from footsteps

Voltage: 48V (Range 12V – 48V)

Materials: Steel, recycled Aluminium, Composite.

Minimum order size: 2x4m array.

Certification: EMC compliant, CE marked, UL compliant.
