Netatmo’s ‘Welcome’ camera with face recognition

Netatmo’s Welcome camera does home security better, thanks to revolutionary face recognition. When your children pass in front of the camera, Welcome recognizes them.

Welcome sends the names of the people it sees directly to your smartphone. Be notified when your children or elderly parents are home. The security camera also alerts you when it sees a stranger.

Welcome’s setup is straightforward. Place the camera indoors, plug it in and download the free app. Identify your loved ones with a simple click. That’s it! From anywhere you have live video streaming, access to past events and a list of who’s home all at your fingertips.

Protect your family’s privacy
Welcome’s award-winning technology allows you to disable recording and notifications for individual family members. Ensure your toddler isn’t getting into trouble while leaving your partner’s comings and goings off the record.

The most advanced data protection
Welcome uses bank-level, end-to-end encryption to guarantee the highest level of protection for your videos. Identification data and video footage is yours alone. Choose who can access it and when thanks to Welcome’s local microSD card storage. For your protection, a screenshot of each event is the only thing stored in the cloud.

For the first week or two, it learns faces as people come and go. When it recognises a new face, you create a profile and tell the app which face belongs to whom.

Other cameras are good at recording what’s going on, or monitoring low traffic areas, but they become irritating when used as a security measure in a busy home. When the Welcome sends me a notification, I know it will be pertinent. That’s vital.

Footage is recorded in 1080p onto a supplied 8GB microSD card, which brings me to the other great benefit of the Welcome – no extra fees. Most security cams charge for cloud storage. Often the tiers of features and recording times can be irritatingly confusing, so Netatmo’s one price for everything approach is refreshing.

How much you can record to your 8GB card will depend on the settings. Left to record everything, I’ve discovered that you can get 24 to 48 hours of history. If you’re more selective, however, it’s possible to get several days of recording before the Welcome starts to overwrite old footage.
