Oxygen green table as natural air purifier for your home

As natural air outside becomes more polluted, many are turning towards indoor air purifiers for clean oxygen. The Oxygen of Green concept is a coffee table that grows Air Plants (which do not need soil) and produces oxygen at night so you can wake up every morning to clean and fresh air.

Designed by Devon Mingling Wang, the “Oxygen of Green” low table, essentially uses a soil-less plant called Tillandsias to purify air.

The Tillandsias plant produces a decent amount of oxygen, particularly at night. By having the table in the main room of the house, you get the benefit of the cleaner air where you spend most of your time. The Tillandsias plant grows without soil, since water and nutrients are absorbed through the leaves. Additionally, carbon dioxide is absorbed form the the air and oxygen is produced in its place.

There are a numerous amount of ingenius “Green” inventions in concept and production stage nowadays, however oxygen table is very innovative.

Tillandsias plant

Tillandsia is a genus of around 730 species of evergreen, perennial flowering plants in the family Bromeliaceae, native to the forests, mountains and deserts of Central and South America, the southern United States and the West Indies. Airplant is a common name for plants in this genus.

Tillandsia are epiphytes and need no soil because water and nutrients are absorbed through the leaves.[5] The roots are mainly used as anchors. Propagation is by seeds or by offsets called “pups”. A single plant could yield up to a dozen pups. Offsets can be separated when about 2/3 the size of their mother to encourage a new colony.
