‘Hexa’ – single-seat eVTOL aircraft

Hexa is a single-seat, amphibious eVTOL multicopter that is powered by a fully electric propulsion system with 18 overhead propellers.

LIFT plans to operate the ultralight aircraft under an experience-based model, where anyone who undergoes training can take it for short flights in controlled environments.

North Texas-based Qarbon Aerospace in partnership with LIFT Aircraft will build fully integrated LIFT’s personal eVTOL aircraft, Hexa.

Capable of landing on both land and water, HEXA has four perimeter floats for buoyancy and stability and a fifth, center float filled with energy-absorbing foam for added buoyancy and hard landing protection.

A triply redundant autopilot computer with a single, 3-axis joystick is all that is needed to fly. Or tap on the seven inch touchscreen in “Look mom, no hands!” mode.

With an airframe built entirely of carbon fiber, Hexa weights in only 432lbs. and is compliant with the FAA’s Powered Ultralight classification so no pilot’s license is required to fly. Don’t worry, we’ll give you plenty of training!

DISTRIBUTED ELECTRIC PROPULSION – Eighteen independent electric motors and propellers are the only moving parts needed for perfectly stable, controlled flight.

HIGHLY REDUNDANT, ELECTRIC MOTORS

✔︎ Eighteen motors, propellers, and batteries

✔︎ Safely land with up to 6 motors disabled

✔︎ Highly reliable – only 18 moving parts!

✔︎ Bird strike tolerant design

REDUNDANT FLIGHT CONTROL

✔︎ 3X redundant flight computer

✔︎ 3X redundant sensors (GPS, IMU, etc.)

✔︎ Sensors for collision avoidance

FLOATS

✔︎ Safe emergency landing capabilities on water

✔︎ Energy-absorbing center float crumple zone

✔︎ Whole aircraft air-cushion deploys with BRS\

OVERHEAD ROTOR DESIGN

✔︎ Propellers out of reach

✔︎ Enhanced visibility

✔︎ Distributed batteries (away from pilot)

✔︎ All critical systems at least 2x redundant

✔︎ Design factor of safety >2 everywhere

AUTONOMOUS BALLISTIC PARACHUTE

✔︎ Patented PARAZERO BRS for multicopters

✔︎ Effective as low as 10m (33 feet)

✔︎ Autonomously deploys when needed

SWAPPABLE, DISTRIBUTED BATTERIES

✔︎ 18 separate batteries for fault tolerance

✔︎ Away from pilot (thermal runaway tolerant)

✔︎ Saves cabling weight, charge on ground carts
