Skin Monitor – an ultra-thin electronic patch that allows 24 x7 monitoring your health

University of Illinois has developed an ultra thin electronic patch with mechanics of skin that can be used for monitoring your health 24/7.

The patch may be the size of a small tattoo, the skin part of the body is a great point of integration and it allows devices that are skin-like to intimately integrate very advanced semiconductor technology and sensors with the body.

In future, leveraging the near-field coupling technology with the skin monitoring one may be able to use smartphones to directly have a mechanism for data  transfer and real-time monitoring 24 x 7 including EKG.
