OTM Technologies has produced Phree, a digital pen that allows users to write on any surface, sending the data to a paired computer or mobile device. The pen is compatible with a variety of software programs such as EverNote, Microsoft Office, OneNotes, Acrobat, Google Handwriting Keyboard, Viber, and others.
The pen is equipped with a laser at its tip, which reads the user’s writing and sends the data via Bluetooth pairing to a linked device. Its sophisticated optical tracking engine results in unmatched resolution. The pen also features speakers for headset functionality as well as an interactive screen.
The pen works at a distance of one inch (twenty-five mm) between its tip and a surface, and it can be used up to ten meters from the target device. The accuracy of the pen enables biometric identification, including factors such as angle of grip, pressure, velocity, and acceleration.
Optical translation measurement (OTM) sensor that precisely tracks hand motion across virtually any surface, in a wide dynamic range. they managed to engineer and build a compact, low-cost optical sensor that fits at the tip of a pen-like device. the combination of breakthrough technology and ergonomic, the company designed a user-friendly pen named ‘phree’. the patented OTM sensor is a compact 3D laser interferometer. it tracks the relative motion of a nearby surface by measuring the interference signal between a laser beam projected on the surface and the reflections from the surface. the signal is then translated to X-Y-Z motion information by our signal-processing algorithms running on a very small, integrated electronics component.
