Vuzix offers AR smart glasses. – Blade 2

It’s ommercial AR glasses that actually look like a pair of normal glasses.

Difference between Assisted Reality (ASR) and Augmented Reality (AR):

Assisted Reality (ASR):
Purpose: ASR provides users with relevant information directly in their immediate field of view (FoV). It’s designed to enhance situational awareness without distracting from the real-world environment.
Experience: ASR prioritizes the physical reality, with digital information displayed within the user’s FoV. Unlike AR, it doesn’t overlay computer-generated content onto the real world.

Examples: Think of heads-up displays (HUDs) in vehicles – they show essential information (like speed or navigation) without obstructing the driver’s view1.

Augmented Reality (AR):
Purpose: AR creates an interactive experience by overlaying computer-generated content onto the real world. It enhances the environment with virtual elements.

Experience: AR blends digital content (such as 3D images or data) seamlessly into the user’s view. It’s commonly used in apps on smartphones or AR glasses.

Examples: Pokémon GO, where virtual creatures appear in the real world through your phone’s camera, or furniture apps that let you visualize how a couch would look in your living room2.

In summary, ASR focuses on providing relevant information without overwhelming the user’s view, while AR immerses users in a digitally enhanced environment.

The device is essentially a mini-computer with a dual-core 1GHz TI-OMAP 4403 processor, which is the same chip you’ll find in Google Glass and older Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. It can function as a standalone wearable computer by using Wi-Fi or attach to your Android or iOS smartphone via Bluetooth. The M100 runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is a few generations behind the newest version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
