As a licensing and technology transfer company, WiTricity Corporation works with OEMs to design and develop innovative products that incorporate WiTricity technology.  In addition, we have created a number of reference designs that provide a fast-path route to introducing new products and systems based on these designs.

The WiTricity WiT-5000C3 Development Kit is an end-to-end reference design for developing wireless charging and direct-powered systems that conform to the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP) Rezence™ specification for consumer electronics devices.
Based on WiTricity’s highly resonant wireless power transfer (HRWPT) technology and operating at 6.78 MHz, the WiT-5000C3 architecture offers an efficient solution for delivering power over distance and through most surfaces to one or more devices, and is designed to allow developers to create Rezence-compatible wireless charging systems.

The WiT-5000C3 development kit includes reference designs for Rezence Class 3 Power Transfer Units (PTUs) and Rezence Category 3 Power Receive Units (PRUs), as well as the PTU and PRU resonators and electronics needed to create a fully functioning wireless charging system for Rezence-certified products. Offering PTUs capable of delivering up to 6.5W to each of two Category 3 PRUs, or 13W to one Category 4 PRU, the WiT-5000C3 design can be adapted by consumer electronics makers for aftermarket mobile devices or accessories, as well as for integration into consumer products, or for other wireless charging and direct power applications that fall within the performance and geometric specifications of the WiT-5000C3.

Power Transfer over the Distance and Through Surfaces

The WiT-5000C3 reference design offers two PTUs – one PTU with a certified operating Z height of 5mm for on-the-table charging applications and a second PTU with a certified operating Z height of 46mm for through-the-surface charging applications. With the through-the-surface charging PTU, tables, desks, counters or other surfaces without significant metallic content can be turned into a wireless charging “hotspot” without unsightly clutter or requiring major modifications to the surface. With the on-the-table PTU, developers can create wireless charging pads that can be moved to the most convenient location on tables or countertops.

WiTricity Resonators

The WiT-5000C3 is WiTricity’s state-of-the-art design, offering high quality and high-efficiency resonators. The resonators are designed to maximize performance over the charge area with matching networks that are optimized to achieve a high power transfer efficiency.

Designed for Rezence Certification

The WiT-5000C3 has been designed to enable WiTricity licensees to build Class 3 wireless charging systems that conform to the Rezence specification. The WiT-5000C3 meets the required power level and efficiency metrics and uses the Bluetooth Smart (formerly Bluetooth LE) communications protocol as required by the Rezence specification. The use of Bluetooth Smart for system control can leverage communications infrastructure that may already be in place in targeted mobile devices.
