‘Scewo’ – The new generation electric wheelchair that can also climb stairs

Scewo is the only company in the world to manufacture an electric wheelchair that drives on two wheels and can climb stairs. Founded in 2017 based on a former student project of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), Scewo enables wheelchair users to discover places in new ways.

They believe in an everyday life in which people with restricted mobility can discover the world more independently and in new ways. It achieves this by combining existing and the latest technologies in a new way and combining them with the latest design. With innovative vehicles, it not only move people, but also initiate a rethinking in society.

Whether it is curbsides, single steps or stairs, BRO masters them all. Its tracks carry you comfortably and safely up and down straight stairs. This way, even the two steps of the restaurant around the corner become child’s play.

You can activate the stair-climbing mode at the push of a button. BRO climbs up or down the steps on your command. With the help of sensors, it constantly measures its surroundings. All you have to do is move the joystick in the desired direction and enjoy the ride. Thanks to the optional rear-view camera you can also keep an eye on what is happening behind you. For an even more relaxed ride, BRO continuously adjusts the seat height while climbing stairs so that you are always sitting upright.
