Nest: The Smart Thermostat

Tony Fadell who invented the iPod and the iPhone has developed a new thermostat called ‘Nest’. The slimmer and sleeker Nest Thermostat includes many features, one of which is a bigger, sharper display which saves energy.

Nest is a thermostat that utilizes artificial intelligence and learns from manual adjustments. It uses sensors to detect room temperatures and can also know whether a room is occupied or not.

It can interact with you directly or communicate with you over the internet through a smartphone or tablet. Information about your energy use is kept in a cloud storage so users can track their energy consumption.

Nest has an elegant design which consists of a circular stainless steel device with a colored digital display looking like a jewel when displayed on the wall.

Its features include auto schedule, auto away, Farsight, Remote control and Nest leaf.

Nest learns the temperatures you like and programs itself in about a week. It automatically turns itself down when the room is empty to help you save energy. When Nest spots you across the room it will light up to show you the time or the temperature you set.

You can connect your thermostat to Wi‑Fi to control the temperature from your phone, tablet or laptop. It will also guide you by displaying a leaf on the screen when you choose a temperature that saves energy.

It’s a smart thermostat with sophisticated cutting edge technology which can save a good amount on utility bills and efficiently control energy at home.
