Tesla Owner Builds Retractable Automatic Charger

Tesla owner in Romania has built a homemade Powerwall.

Tesla owner has officially built an automatically deploying and retracting vehicle charger in the garage, according to a new YouTube video from Pat Larson (via Reddit).

Using a raspberry pi to run the automated software, the owner built a fully extending charger arm, which effectively plugs into the car automatically before beginning to charge.

The Raspberry Pi is equipped with a machine learning framework called TensorFlow, which helps the system understand where to move based on the photographic evidence.

Camera snaps pictures and feeds them back to the computer system to help line up the charging arm mechanism.

Homemade Tesla Powerwall, built custom from Model S modules and with a charging capacity of up to 40 kWh, Software opens the charging port using the Tesla API.
