Panasonic’s T-Rex Robot AI Reacts to Fingertip Touch

Robots are good at seeing and increasingly good at following spoken instructions. Feeling their way through a task is harder. On November 5, 2026, Panasonic Holdings announced a robot manipulation AI called T-Rex (Tactile-Reactive Dexterous Manipulation) that adds a sense of touch to the popular vision-language-action approach, and corrects its movements as fingertips feel slipping or too much pressure.

According to Panasonic’s press release, the work is a collaboration between Panasonic HD, Panasonic R&D Company of America, UC Berkeley, NVIDIA, Stanford University, Sapienza University of Rome and ItalAI. It will be presented at the Conference on Robot Learning (CoRL) in Austin, Texas, from November 9 to 12, 2026.
